    welcome

Alachua County stands at a crossroad.  Down one avenue lies the flagship university in the Florida state system, a prime business location, a beautiful natural environment, and a wealth of human potential.  Down the other lies anemic economic growth, policies contrary to homeownership, and voracious government spending.  For too long, Alachua County has been governed by individuals who would rather take it down the latter path, and the effects on local standards of living reflect their decisions.  WE CAN DO BETTER!

    the problem

In the early 1990's, this community, in a public / private partnership, created the Council for Economic Outreach.  CEO's directive: attract business and good paying jobs to Alachua County, Florida.

Just a few years ago, in an effort to kill off CEO and to limit our economic opportunities, the Alachua County and Gainesville City Commissions de-funded CEO.

As the liberal / anti-business crowd took over the Alachua County and Gainesville City Commissions, we saw economic opportunity slip away.  Childhood poverty in Alachua County hit about 20%.  Inside the city limits, childhood poverty approaches 24%.  Businesses owned by minorities are about half the state average and we are, each, earning about $3,100 less than the state average with no signs of improvement.  Nearly half of the children attending Alachua County Public Schools qualify for free and reduced lunch programs.

The economic policies that have been put in place by the anti-business crowd can truly be described as "Poverty By Design."

Do we want our families fractured?  Do we want our children to have to leave their homes because there is no opportunity waiting for them here?

We say, No More!  It is time to Think and Vote Differently.  It is time to vote for prosperity.  It is time to vote for economic opportunity.  It is time to vote for a better future for our children.

there is hope - there is a solution

Alachua County has all of the resources that any community needs to be an economically vibrant community.  We have a great regional airport, a world class university with world class medical research.  We have two major highways running right through our community, and we have a world class publicly owned utilities company.

Alachua County has everything it needs to be a prosperous area…except for the political leadership that wants it.

Alachua County’s liberal leadership will not allow greater prosperity and growth.

Alachua County’s political landscape must change for economic growth to occur.
